The Wiscosnin DNR uses the Sex Age Kill (SAK) model to estimate the size of the white-tailed deer herd. In this clip, Tim Van Deelen, UW Madison assistant professor, and Joshua Millspaugh, chairman of the SAK Model Review Panel, explain how the model works, why it is used and some of the challenges of estimating deer populations.
